Back in the day, when metal ruled (from 1985-1992) Savage Thrust were at the forefront of the east coast thrash metal scene. Thousands of tapes and records sold, numerous performances/loads of reviews, and a shitload of fans the world over! We sincerely want to thank all the fans we've touched and thank them for all the love over the years.
Here's the original Bio from 1986-87:
(this was sent out with our demo tapes)
A rude awakening...happened back in summer 1985 on Staten Island (NYC's quietest borough) when "Metal the Painful Way" blasted forth for the 1st time from five deranged souls known as SAVAGE THRUST. Capturing the ears & minds of the rapidly growing NY metal scene, "the Thrust" quickly attained status as being amongst the most intense and talented bands to emerge from the east coast thrash metal movement.
Savage Thrust's material proved to be thoughtfully-written, mega-hard doses of merciless heavy metal that manage to retain a special sense of composition, musicianship, and melody. (thanks to Michael Smith's nerve-shattering vocals plus the fret-melting guitar work of Ed Varuolo + Pat Donofrio.) Combined with the incredibly solid rhythms provided by Bob Boch and Bassist Jimmy Gellentien, SAVAGE THRUST soon established themselves as a major force that left an indelible impression upon all audiences.
The boys cite their main influences as "everything from sabbath to slayer"...which translates into nothing less than highly original, no-holds-barred riffs coupled with complex, inventive rhythms! Could this be what sets apart ST from other bands in the speed/thrash metal jungle?
Possibly it could be the group's choice of name that best explains this band's uniqueness. Think about it... a "savage thrust" conceivably escalates violence/sexual innuendo to new heights of perversity!
With song titles such as "Eat 'em Raw", and "Speed or Bleed", Savage Thrust casts sublety aside and goes straight for the jugular while leaving nothing to the imagination. As a result of 2 self-produced demos plus an appearance on new Renaissance Records' "Speed Metal Hell II", world-wide critical acclaim from the underground metal press continues to this day. Those reviews helped pave the way for numerous live performances supporting such national acts as: Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, Manowar, Armored Saint, Nuclear Assault, M.O.D. The Ramones, plus many others.
Now it's time to experience "NY's masters of power & speed" firsthand for yourself. For best results: sit back, pop open a cold one, crank up the volume, and allow SAVAGE THRUST to exterminate your brain cells with extreme prejudice!!!!!
