“Music Mavericks†Open Mic begins it’s third season at OPUS Lounge & Restaurant hosted by local singer-songwriter Lisa Gentile
Lisa Gentile’s popular Open Mic “Music Mavericks†Open Mic will begin it’s third season at OPUS Lounge & Restaurant (218 Walton St. Syracuse, NY 13202) in Armory Square after a 3 month summer hiatus. “Music Mavericksâ€, will reconvene on Wednesday, October 15th from 8:00pm-11:30pm and will run weekly on Wednesdays thereafter. Sign up is from 7:30pm-10:30pm and performances run from 8:00pm-11:30pm. A Full Bar and Appetizers are available throughout. There is no cover charge.
Gentile says: “I decided to kick it up a notch this season by moving to OPUS Lounge which has an actual stage, a built in sound system and best of all a grand piano! It’s a gorgeous, classy venue and by having a piano, this will only enhance the diversity of performers that Music Mavericks attracts each week and continue to expand our community of talented musicians who grow and support one another in this nurturing and artistic environment.â€
Another twist that makes this Open Mic special is each week a well-known artist or theme is chosen for the evening and performers are encouraged to bring in their covers of, or their own originals inspired by that specific artist or theme. However, performers are not required to stick with the theme and are welcome to perform any material they would like. The upcoming themes for the next four weeks are: October 15thth: Songs of Bob Dylan, October 22nd: Songs of Jackson Browne, October 29th: Halloween Songs, November 5th: The Sounds of County Music.
Music Mavericks is proudly sponsored by 88.3 WAER public Radio. Joe Lee, Director & General Manager of WAER says “Ms. Gentile brings a great energy to the table and I want to expose our listeners to the new and innovative local music that’s available to our listeners, as well as, the Syracuse community.†For more information on 88.3 Public Radio visit: www.waer.org.
