About Me

i have always been really music minded, being able to play guitar and piano by ear naturally without knowing how to read music. at age 16 i was introduced to midi and i got a basic midi setup and slowly learned how to record parts into cakewalk and see it play them back onto the synthesizer. i was exposed to the Dallas club scene and absorbed a lot of good music, parties and good experiences. i recorded a lot of music on my 4-track tape recorder, unfortunately i have lots of good songs on all these tapes from the 90’s but since its not a digital format i could’nt do a lot with those songs, later in 2000 i bought a rackmount CD-R recorder so i finally had a digital-oriented mastering deck to record all my final stuff to.
in the late 90’s i was doing a lot on MP3.COM and i had a lot of good feedback from my tracks and a few were at the top of the charts in some genres. i remixed some artists from across the world through the magic of the internet and some of my tracks were played on some radio shows in europe. I also discovered a lot of new artists that i really liked and it was good to be able to communicate through MP3.COM and give each other opinions and feedback.
in 98’ i ran into an old friend and we had lots in common musically and we started collaborating on some stuff, we eventually started thrust records mainly to have a platform to release our own music. We asked questions and learned how the vinyl process worked and we got 500 12" vinyl records printed which had four songs, it got played at some packed crowds around Dallas with some good responses. dj keoki played it in his set, he just threw it right on right in the middle of his set during a packed crowd and the crowd liked it. We got the records sold through some distributors and quite a few record stores around Texas but in the end we ended thrust records but it was a good learning experience.
around 2005 i was searching for a new type of setup, i needed to find a good program to start learning and stop with my old ways of using cakewalk, acid, or the groovebox, so i ended up getting Reason 3.0 and started learning it and liking it because its a fun program, not boring. later i got Ableton and i learned the basics and i like it for certain situations but i still tend to lean towards Reason for getting my ideas out quickly.
early 2006 i signed to soul people music, which is a house label out of Queens, New York, i have several tracks released through them which are available on beatport, I-Tunes, DjDownload.com, track-it-down, dancetracksdigital, djmr.com, juno, and more that i can’t recall. in later 2006 i signed with Monoceros Records which is run by my ex-thrust partner Eric who makes music under the moniker greenwave, he has many artists from around the world that are really talented and i’m inspired by a lot of it.
i worked on some collaborations & remixes with him for several tracks released through Monoceros Records and i learned a lot from him in the process.
i love the creative freedom you have with these programs like Reason or Ableton, how you can do everything all-in-one, it makes things way less complicated, having your sampler, mixer, effects , synths, drum machine, & mastering racks all contained in one single program, not to mention plenty of sounds to draw from.
i always stay open to many genres and try to change things up every once and a while to keep it interesting.
