Conscious Sedation began in 2007 - early spring, when I decided that after being made a grandmother at 35 and losing my business of 10 years that I was going to do something I wanted to do for me, before it was "too late" I told Randy who has been playing drums his whole life, in many bands over the years, that I was going to sing and he was going to play drums. I had never sang in a band before. He went and bought me a cheap PA and mic, and I spent months in the band room singing alone. He then asked Michael a guitar player from a band he had been in years earlier, and found Flip who played keys and guitar, and Don on bass. The five of us worked on mostly Americana and country for about a year, but as I grew, the sound changed. I wanted to ROCK and only rock. We grew apart, and Travis and Joel, and Kevin on keys, joined us and Don and Flip and eventually Michael went on to their own things. 6-9 months later, Travis is busy teaching his first year of school, Joel has his own band started and playing, and we are lucky enough to have MANY friends help us keep playing as we needed them, and cannot thank them enough. I played three months of 6-8 shows a month recently with different people everytime without rehearsing and I just told Randy thats it - cancel the gigs until we get permanent band members. It seemed like the next day, Don then Danny joined us, and we knew immediatley this was the new CS. The CS that fit and works for where we are today. The name Conscious Sedation comes from a pill that dentist give you before you have major dental work done. Something I have gone thru, and when I heard that name, we had been trying to name the band for 6 months, I thought thats it. And its perfect for us.

Melissa (lead vocals) There is only one thing to say - ROCKSTAR, LMAO, seriously though! Recently described as "on stage hopping around like the Enchanted Goddess of Sin" Oh Yeah! LOL
Randy (Bone) has been playing drums for 35 years. He is very extremely happily married to Melissa (lead vocals) who is equally impressed by his ability to do so many different things at once when playing the drums.
Danny (lead guitar) out of Sherman/Denison area, a place where I know ALOT of great people, BTW. Danny joined us recently after and exhaustive search for a lead guitarist who wanted to play with just us and as often as we do. He debuted at the PreSturgis party, with very few rehearsals - and we are happy to say that we feel the CS band is whole again.br />
Don (Bass guitar) out of Garland, also recently joined us, and played with us the first time with NO rehearsals! I knew after sitting and talking to him he belonged with us, but after playing together a few weeks, its more concrete then ever!!Kevin (keys) STAY AWAY FROM HIM YA'LL, HE'S MINE, LMAO, Kevin makes his living in music only, teaching at NCTC as well as many other musical endeavors.
Travis (bass guitar) a Denton local, which we figured we really needed as we are a band out of Denton, plays both bass and guitar really well when put on the spot to do so, LOL, when he is not busy rocking out with us, he teaches elementary students!!
We hope to see you, want you to dance and sing along with us, and party til they kick us out.
