The Southern Lyricist!!

About Me

A prospect is an obvious candidate for a job. They show the possibility of progress, gain, success, and advancement where others fall short. In a time where the current state and future of hip-hop are being questioned by those who love and grew up along side it, K.Spade is a man with the potential to completely change the game while staying true to its roots.

A native of Griffin, GA, K.Spade gained an interest in rapping from an early love of writing poetry and from the influence of a cousin, Collipark recording artist Homebwoi, who sent him to the studio to record. Later, they combined with five other Griffin-area rappers to form the Red Clay Warriors in 1998, which was a success locally for three years before splitting.

He gave himself the name "King of Spades" after his stubbornness led him to try to win a spades match by bidding on the king of spades, although it is not the highest spade. The same stubbornness and determination to succeed is evident in both his rhymes and his decision to keep pushing forward after his inner circle of comrades left him with only a handful of serious supporters.

His attempts to record a solo effort proved rocky, so he entered local freestyle competitions making a name for himself through his TV appearance [on UPN] on Hip-Hop Encounter's weekly Mic Aggression where he reigned as champ for nine weeks before being forced to retire. He dropped his name to K.Spade for his fans [many thought “King of Spades” was too long] and started back working on a solo effort before the birth of his daughter, and first and only child, caused him to stop and consider more serious options.

Becoming a parent forced him to view things differently and he wondered if the music industry was a place he wanted to be. He stopped recording for himself, only dropping feature verses and doing mixtape appearances here and there, but when his younger sister [rapper/producer T.Storm] decided to pursue the throne that the king had worked so hard for, he decided to stand right beside her. The Prospect has arrived.
