I'm Zac from Dayton, Ohio. I've been a long-time drag racing fanatic and at the young age of 29 I've become obsessed with abandoned drag strips. I find it sad that drag strips, where legends such as Don Garlits, "TV Tommy" Ivo, Shirley Muldowney, Connie Kalitta and many of the other old super stock racers spent hot, summer days racing, are nothing more than cracked strips of concrete in the middle of the woods somewhere! It's amazing to see past/present pictures of these old places. Unfortunately, I can find only so many of them on the internet. Thankfully, I've received assistance from several people. It seems that there are quite a few other people out there with the same fascination as I. Thank you for your help!For now, each drag strip will have its own folder... go to the picture link to view. I hope one day to have a full-blown web page for this and be able to visit some of these "historical rotting landmarks". I am trying to gain more information on tracks in Ohio. I'm aware of a few such as Pences Dragstrip, Howland Dragstrip, VanWert Dragstrip and Beechmont Dragstrip. I can't help this obsession... I just find it fascinating!! I will try to post as much information as I can about these tracks. Most of them are located in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio... with a few in other parts of the country. The photos I will be posting are courtesy of some other websites I have stumbled across over the last year, but I am sure that I will be visiting some of these neat strips myself and taking some pictures very soon! So I am, in fact, not taking credit for these great pictures. I am just sharing them with you all, in hopes that there may be a few other nerds like myself out there who find this stuff as fascinating as I do.
