Danas

Danilo (Rodrigues Lopes da Silva, aka Danas for his friends) was born on 3th November 1980 in Mindelo, capital of Sao Vicente Island, Cape Verde.
He took to the music early on in life, embracing one of his father's guitars and paying attention to the way his father and his older brother played.
As a child in 1990, Danilo sang in a children’s choir at the National Radio of Cape Verde, to celebrate the papal visit to Mindelo. At the age of 17, he performed at Radio Nova’s program called “Jovens Talentos” and in the same year he was invited to open the concert of musician Bau.
In 2000 he moved to Lisbon to start a Computer course and there he joined the newly-founded band Refilon , taking part in the song writing and arrangement. With Refilon , he has been performing in several show across Portugal (B.leza; Festival Porto Áfricas, Festival de Músicas do Mundo, Festival RDP Africa, EntruDanças, Festival Andancas, Africa Festival..). In 2005 he has played in the bands of the Guineans singers Kimi Djabate and Eneida Marta. In 2007 he joined the band of Cape Verdean singer Danae , on lead guitar and backing vocals, and he founded a new band called Verdes Ritmos, in which he performs as lead guitarist and lead vocalist.
