Nashista

About Me

Nashista, son of the White Witch Vistania, and Dragor the Beloved, descended from ten generations of alchemists, wizards, warriors, and kings, was born amidst the ancient castles and forests of Eulonia, a fair day's ride from the foothills of the Yural mountains. Though the power and magic of his lineage flowed strongly in his blood, from early on Nashista became enraptured with the musician's world, having been led there by his mother's voice, sweet and clear as mountain air, which filled all his days with the songs of the ancient oracles. Somewhere through the ages of long ago the genetics of a nomad mingled with those of nobility, embuing the maturing Nashista with a deep desire to wander. As his world expanded under the wise tutelage of his doting parents, the promise of the open road melded with his musical and literary skills, inspiring him to roam the earth in search of the fortune only song and poem and adoration of loving audiences could provide. ..

Sounds Like: Nashista's music is an eclectic blend of ambient, meditative melodies intricately interwoven with multi-layered orchestrations of varied instruments ranging in sound from the digeridoo to voice, piano, guitar, and flute to french horns, cellos, harps, and strings. Working also within the world music genre, he incorporates sounds from around the globe such as the sitar to the bazouki, bagpipes, english horn, and bohdran to the conch shell, erhu, tabla, and shamisen. He also uses a vast variety of drumming styles and instruments to lend the driving force behind some of his most provocative dance pieces.Nashista's musical experience is deeply rooted in folk and rock & roll, having been influenced early on by Simon & Garfunkel, Jethro Tull, Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Cockburn,The Who, and others too numerous to mention. As his musical tastes evolved over the years he returned to his original classical roots and developed a deep desire to produce orchestral music and soundtracks for film. Within this sphere of writing he has been greatly influenced by the great score writers Hans Zimmer, Phillip Glass, David Arkenstone, Vangelis, and the ever-exuberant performer and composer Yanni.
