About Me

I love God. I love my family. I love music. There are certainly degrees to my love. Ninety-eight degrees, to be exact. I aspire to be the poor (fat) man's Nick Lachey. Yes, I'm frightened, too.

My Interests

God. Shannon. Grace. Faith. Noah. Jonah. Music.

I'd like to meet:

Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes, Dan Marino, Larry Bird, Yngwie Malmsteen (because of his name), George W. Bush, Leonard Sweet, Will Ferrell, David Crowder, Tom Cavanagh, Dan Castellenata, Louie Giglio, Shawn McDonald, Lincoln Brewster, the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man, David Phelps, Eric Clapton and Michael J. Nelson.

Music:

Just about everything. Seriously, I mean everything. If it is music, then I will listen to it. Except polka, ska, R&B, rap, heavy metal, country, bluegrass, southern gospel, classical, rock, pop, gettotech, lounge, glam and emo.

Movies:

Back to the Future, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Minority Report, The Princess Bride, BAPS, The Boogins, The Usual Suspects. Man, there is so much pressure to post every one of my favorite movies. My sister reminded me of one from our past: "Midnight Madness." A young Michael J. Fox gives a stirring performance. You must check it out.

Television:

The Simpsons, Lost, Scrubs, Prison Break, My Name is Earl The Office, Rockstar, American Idol. Old school selections: Silver Spoons, Quantum Leap, Briscoe County, Jr., Greatest American Hero, Gummi Bears and Shirt Tails.

Books:

The Bible. I will piously refrain from inputting any more data in this little box.

Heroes:

Jesus. My brother. Lowell Mason. Willow. Billy Barty.

My Blog

52 Questions. Read one a week over the next year.

I recently filled out a survey while I was up at 1:00 AM.  I rarely fill these out, so I was surprised to learn that I'd completed one.  Apparently I wrote this in a semi-conscious haze...

Fool Me 70 Times...

Earlier this month, I hit a major milestone.  I suppose I could always dream on a grand scale, like wanting to climb various mountain peaks in the Himalayas, maybe turning the table and rescuing ...

Last Bastion, Part Deux

If you haven't read the first part of this saga, please do so before continuing.  You won't understand my angst unless you take it all in. I'm finally in the door.  The Judicial Center is li...

Last Bastion of Freedom

I embarked on a new journey today.  As I sat in orientation I smiled, knowing that my mission would be made ever clearer, my purpose well-defined.  The video that they'd prepared revealed th...

Getting Icy Way Down South

There is no other explanation.  Hell has undoubtedly frozen over.  The events of the last few days will no doubt shock, amaze, mystify, and frighten you.  You may want to pull up a chai...

My Native American Christmas Experience

I'm probably not the most politically correct individual in the country. After all, I am a white male, which immediately precludes me from understanding the plight of any minority. Except maybe fat fo...

There's a reason they call it "Black Friday."

I remember it well. It was a Friday morning. Five-thirty AM. I thought, "Am I really going to do this? Really?" My wife grunted at me, which is not unusual. She often grunts at me, and I've become rat...

I'm not a violent man...but I'd like to be.

The themes for my blogs have become very much one-tracked, I realize, but there's really not much I can do about what happens to me.  There have been a number of you, including my own wife, who h...

Punching sixty-year-old women in the face.

I know it has been a long time since I've blogged. Fortunately nobody has been clamoring for fresh material, but therein lies my problem. If my day is overwrought with the same inane, run-of-the-mill ...

Birthday "Party" from the Bowels of Hell

I went to a birthday party for a kid in our youth group today.  I use the word "party" because that was what I was told it would be.  The truth, however, was far from what I expected.  ...
