MAKOTAS

Based in London-England, Makotas is a group consisting of four members who go by the names of Sbasta, Lady B, Mr. Nascy and C‘Bratt. The group was formed in 1997 and it’s four members are brothers and sisters (two males and two females), who together make the music genre of hip-hop/rnb. The groups unique name (MAKOTAS), roots in Africa and means ‘nobles‘. S’basta produces and along with the other three members writes the lyrics to all the groups songs.Without any funding from external sources, Makotas fund all the groups recording with difficulty, but always aim to produce the best quality of music possible despite their financial limitations. The group also face difficulties in the distribution of their work and are welcoming to any source who can help.In 2002 the group participated in the Urban Voice talent contest where they performed their own material and made it through to the finals where they managed to achieve an award for best stage presentation. Since then the group have performed in various venues in London and abroad including Stratford Rex and have interviews on Passion TV for black history month.Most recently Makotas worked with producer Adrian "Kenz" McKenzie of Bigger Stuff Entertinment to produce their single entitled Boy you know, colaborating with Alice and SP singing the choruses on the single consisting of the original track, a remix and Noite D’joge (tonight) a song in Portuguese. Released through Live or Die Records, the label was set up by the group and their associates, in February of 2006 with a lot of effort, the group managed to fund and therefore record their first video clip in London, which incorporates Boy You Know the original track and the Remix.The group is now working hard to record an album and aim to release the album in mid 2008. In addition, Makotas are trying to get their video clip on air and distribute their current single.
