“Wedding Tapes†is a label-like platform to promote the music and message of the Berlin, Germany based band ARTHUR COFFIN and TRASH CANDY. Since its inception, ACTC has followed the DO IT YOURSELF ethics of the American Punk movement of the ‘80’s. Arthur Coffin and Trash Candy, started out as a indie band. Until ’06 the band presented a sound somewhere between the “Breedersâ€, and “Weezerâ€, writing songs about emotional, and internal topics. Somewhere down the road reality hit them in the face. The perception of the most recent Iraq war, and the total sellout of Democratic values by the administration, sparked the band’s musical, and lyrical change. Among the band’s influences are the “Descendentsâ€, “Alkaline Trioâ€, and “The Clashâ€. Lyrically, the band spawns a wide bandwidth of sociocritical topics, from world wide labor to climate change. And, yes: Love songs still do make it on the new cd. “Wedding†is a district in Berlin. Historically known as “Red Weddingâ€, the district was the home of a very strong communist working class movement, and a target of the Nazis in the ‘30’s. Times have changed. Today Wedding belongs to the poorest districts of Berlin, with everything that goes with poverty in general. But, this multicultural melting pot is alive, and this is the home, and working base of TRASH CANDY, right in the middle of reality. While recording the latest album, “Henchman Armyâ€, the band took breaks in a park nearby, eating Chinese takeout between junkies, and dealers. Wedding is a seismograph for all modern societies.
