My name is Adrian Hines, but I go by the rap name "A.J", the name doesn't have a definition it was a name that was given to me as a young boy and just stuck as I've gotten older. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in the Nickerson Garden Projects, which is a low-income environment located in Watts, what we consider the South of Los Angeles. My favorite genre of music growing up has always been rap. Some of the people that influenced me to want to rap, were Cassidy, The Game, and Jay-Z. The person who inspired me the most and pushed me on to pursue my dream was my moms before she passed away December 1, 2007. Once I decided to take music seriously, a friend of mine by the name of Carl, which is currently known as C4 (founder of Baseline Ent.) contacted me and advised me that he would like to sit down and talk about me possibly joining his label. It was June 16, 2007 when I signed to Baseline E.N.T. and the name speaks for itself from the ground up. The E.N.T stands for Enterprising New Talent. It was basically established for new artist on the come up.My music compliments my environment and is a reflection of my everyday living and things I see and go through of course. But at the same time I have learned to be versatile to expand as an artist. Most of my lyrics come from real life experiences, basically the things I feel and been through. My background reflects my style because I'm coming from the bottom. I believe that my style is similar to no other artist and its a style of its own.Since I've been signed with Baseline E.N.T. I have done a couple of shows. Our first one was at the Knitting Factory located in Hollywood. Various of our artists did great and we got an overall good reaction from the crowd. One of the quotes I remember someone saying about my music, was that," my versatility and ability to make music for the streets, females, clubs and etc."I am currently working on my new mixtape which is entitled, "Welcome to Watts: The Re-Birth"' set to drop SPRING 2009. We have been promoting heavy for the mixtape with the help of my management team, 7even Aces Promotion Management Group to which I have signed to help me promote myself as a artist as well as my music. I've collaborated with various artist and also artist from G. Malone, Bad Lucc, 211, Jay Rock, K-Boy, Conflict, Quiz, Stage, THX, Nitty, TrackMasters, my label mates, as well as by myself on different tracks. I still write continuously to better my style.Be sure to check out my Myspaceâ„¢ where I always exhibit my new music and photos to keep my fans updated, build up my buzz, and keep you all posted on future shows and mixtapes @ www.myspace.com/baselineaj
