About us!
I'm a well-renowned radio show that was started back in Houston around '92, by this fellow Chris Anderson. Since then, MK Ultra has remained Houston's primary LIVE FM DJ-mixed EDM show in the city. That's right -- everything you hear on the show is impromptu -- not like those other silly famous DJ-mixed radio shows where the mixes are done ahead of time.
Each show is 3 hours long, and airs live on Friday nights from 9pm til midnight CST. Tune in and catch a myriad of entertaining technical blunders, things we maybe shouldn't say, and embarassing yet highly entertaining interviews with the creme of the crop EDM talent from around the world. We do away with that "check out my next album BS" and get down to the real questions, like:
- "What are your favorite beers?" (asked to Infusion)
- "Can I get DJ Rap's phone number?" (asked to BT)
- among many others
Our mission:
We aim to help Houston's scene grow, expand, and gain some serious respect in the eyes of the global dance community. Secondly, we strive to maintain a neutral stance to all prospective artists and DJs be they well known or not, and treat all with respect. That said, we're always on the lookout for new talent. You can check below or our website about such items of interest...
Being a guest on our show:
We are always looking for hot+fresh local talent to help build the scene here. If you're a local Houston DJ and you're interested in doing a guest spot on our show, by all means send us a demo with your contact info (cell AND email). The details can be found HERE
The Staff:
Scott Novich is a comm/networking theory graduate student at Rice University. He also is a pseudo-vet music producer of 7 years experience. His current "thing," is doing live remix sets in Ableton -- and it's been pretty well received. He currently holds a bi-annual residency at Beijing's venerable progressive club, Tango. He's also a featured DJ on ::bijoubreaks.com::
Syed Asif Hassan is a veteran DJ originally from SF, Cali. He specializes in progressive music and produces a bit of it himself. He is a Quantum Physics graduate student at UT, Austin.
Shannon: She's OMNIPRESENT. Go to any party -- she will be there. One of the true supporters of "the scene," and one of the kindest people we know -- definitely will do the PR. thing right!
Raza: Rice U. Undergrad, and newcomer to KTRU -- Raza hails from Pakistan, and has been quite the international party-animal for quite some time...
Alex C: Website Designer Extraordinaire! He's stopped freelance, however, and now works with Line media, UK. His website: grafyte studios
Jeffery Mac: Local producer/dj/club-owner/robot/secret-agent extraordinaire who helps maintain the MK Ultra official show site. His personal site: jefferymac.com

A little bit more:
Our station is pretty much student run and we operate at a good 50,000 Watts of power (compared to most college stations which operate at a few hundred to a few thousand). We're able to hit Galveston and have a large cult following (as a station). Needless to say we're damn lucky to be in the position that we are... ;)
