The Original "MIKE FRESH".Mike "Fresh" McCray, is a multi platinum selling producer who's influence on the "Dirty South" sound is undeniable and legitamate.As the first rap producer from Atlanta to gain national prominence, Mike "Fresh" McCray has blazed a trail for many successful artists to follow in the past decades.
From his humble beginings working with the likes of Rahim the Dream, EZT and others in Atlanta when the city was in the infancy of it's rise to be the Hip Hop Mecca that it has now become, Mike "Fresh" McCray made a name for himself putting out scorching hot tracks and amazing his fans with his prowess on the turntables and his uncanny ability to master any drum machine put before him without the use of a manual. Little is it known that Mike "Fresh" McCray is responsible for teaching some of todays hottest producers how to program their first "beats".
Upon teaming up with MC SHY-D and longtime friend and neighbor DJ Toomp (TI, Ludacris, Kanye West, Etc.), a formidable alliance was creating which along with the 2LIVE CREW helped to spearhead into international prominence Luther Campbell's upstart label LUKE SKYYWALKER RECORDS.
When MC SHY-D and DJ TOOMP decided to pursue other endeavors after the critically acclaimed album "Coming Correct In 88", Mike "Fresh" McCray decided to remain in Miami and continued to methodically churn out hit after hit for many artists.
Throughout the remainder of the eighties, Mike "Fresh" McCray was responsible for producing many hits and along with Disco Rick, DJ Magic Mike, Mr. Mixx, Beatmaster Clay D and many others was responsible for creating the Legendary Miami Bass Sound that is still prevalent in the slowed down form utilized today by the likes of Lil Jon, 666 Mafia and "Mr. Collipark" (DJ Smurf).
As the 90's approached, Mike "Fresh" McCray was responsible for several megahit albums including the 2 Live Crew's infamous "Banned In The USA" album which went on to achieve gold certification but more importantly argued for 1st amendment right protection (freedom of speech) for artists under the U.S. Constitution. The platinum selling soundtracks to the blockbuster movies "NEW JACK CITY" and "BOYZ IN THE HOOD" were soon added to Mike "Fresh" McCray's resume as well.
Refusing to slow down, Mike "Fresh" McCray went on to team with J.T. Money and the Poison Clan and produced several hit albums including the best selling "Poisonous Mentality" and "Roughtown Behavior", which catapulted J.T. Money to the legendary staus that he enjoys to this very day.Mike "Fresh" McCray has continued to do his thing without ceasing and has worked with a variety of artists including: Trina, Trick Daddy, MC Smart, 3re Tha Hardaway, Bustdown, Juvenille, Larry Blackmon (Cameo), True Playaz (Balli & Lil Fish), Dat Nigga Wish, Pit & Crow, Roughtown Mob, Brother Marquis, and an entire generation of up and coming artists such as M-DUB that you will be hearing from real soon.There may be many individuals that choose to call themselves "Mike Fresh" and for good reason.
