I am a professional flutist/music teacher and part-time interior designer living in Fruitland Park, Mississippi (near the coast and NOLA)
I am originally from Gulfport, but have lived pretty much all over. .. New Orleans, Hattiesburg, Ms; St. Louis, Mo; Tampa, Fl; some other places also...I love to travel, the Med and Europe are my faves...But on a musician's salary, big trips like that only come once a lifetime or so..
I love great food, and this part of the country has great places to eat....I have always loved seafood done almost any way...but the cajun/creole way is yumm-o!!
My best friends are my dogs, Max and Greta. They are mini-schnauzers who understand mostly German, but they are really bi-lingual. They just fake people out they don't want to listen to..besides me nicht wahr!! They say both "WOOF!" and "VOOF!"
Some examples of things I like to read: David Sedaris, F.Scott Fitzgerald, Barry Hanna, P. Neruda, T.S. Elliot, Biographies, History, and I also enjoy studying other languages and religions..I just finished reading Neil White's book, "In a Sanctuary of Outcasts".....incredible read...I happen to know his brother very well, as we were both in undergraduate studies together as music majors...Anyway, check it out!
The movies I really love are anything by the Cohen Brothers, esp O Brother, Philadelphia, Mr. Brown, Forrest Gump, Walk the Line, and most recently "Julie and Julia"...also period films such as Queen E, and Sense and Sensibility...and just good ole' heist movies...the best I think is called Confidence with Ed Burns and Andy Garcia, the Italian Job, and also the Ocean movies. My fave actors are Benecio Del Toro (oh my god he is so hot), and Andy Garcia (loved him playing Arturo Sandoval) If you don't know what I mentioned prior, don't bother with me...If one must explain why someone or something is incredible, it's not worth my breath...(I realize how snootie that must have sounded..keehee)
I am sort of a music snob...It comes with the territory being a musician. Yet I love all styles of music, the only rule is: it must be great..
I can go from SVR and Hubert Laws to Beethoven and Stravinsky, from James Blount to Lyle, right on to the Duke. Beethoven 6 is my favorite of big B's works..It is an almost perfectly through-composed work of art... the pastoral is it's other name..listen if you haven't...
I am a fun person, love to laugh, and love meeting nice people. Always looking for some nice email pals.
Well then, what else could I say??
If you want to know me, listen to Ravel's piano concerto in G, second movement, 'adagio assai'....or the 'finale' to Tenderland by Aaron Copeland
thanks for taking the time to absorb me
