The agency works with individuals, small groups and large organisations on short-term, long-term and ongoing projects.
We also provide all of our stable of designers works for sale online through our shop . International delivery is available.
The name (because i know you’re wondering) comes from an optical illusion, which is also the company logo. The horse is ambiguous because it could either be looking at you or looking away, and we like to think that the business is just as adaptable (or unpredictable).
On top of client work, Ambiguous Horse also runs the occasional project just for fun, or more specifically, our own personal agenda. You can find out about these ‘cultural interventions’ at www.ambiguoushorse.com
Our Projects:
Bicycle Film FestivalThe Bicycle Film Festival came to Melbourne for the first time in December 2007. Founded in New York City by Brendt Barbur in 2000, the message of the festival has spread across the world and is now staged in 17 cities including Rome, London, Paris, Sydney and Tokyo.
The Melbourne Bicycle Film Festival will return to our fine city from 19 - 23 November 2008. It is our goal to create an event that celebrates the bicycle in every way. It is also our mission to create a festival that belongs to the bike riders of Melbourne - so set the wheels in motion (lame) and submit a film! Download our 2008 Melbourne BFF entry form to find out more about the kinds of films we screen and how to enter. View images from the festival.
Don't Sweat Shop
From little things big things grow! Starting out as a project in the 2006 Next Wave Festival, Ambiguous Horse is now working with ArtPlay at Birrarung Marr to stage a series of three Don't Sweat Shop workshops in 2008. The workshops will give young people aged between 12 and 18 the opportunity to make and screen-print their own clothe from recycled materials, and in doing so, educate on ethical consumerism. For further information visit the Project Website or view images from the first of the three Workshops.
200 Characters
Do you have a text message stored on your mobile phone that you can’t bring yourself to delete? Have you ever been tempted to peek into someone else’s inbox and read their messages? This book will have you laughing and crying out loud at 200 tales from the short message service. Collected from inboxes all over the world, the book speaks volumes on the way we live and communicate today.
There's a Hole in my Bucket
First staged during the 2006 Melbourne Design Festival, ‘There’s A Hole In My Bucket’ responded to the festival theme of ‘When It Rains It Pours’ by introducing the bucket as a symbol for design. 100 bright yellow buckets (with holes) were released into the hands of designers and members of the public. Now it’s Sydney’s turn! Ambiguous Horse will be re-staging the project as part of 2008 Sydney International Design Festival 8 - 24 August. For further information visit the Project Website or the
Sydney Design Festival Website.
