Doc McGhee has been a pioneer for over 30 years in building major music
brands that cross borders and boundaries. Doc has managed the careers of a
diverse group of artists from James Brown, to the Scorpions. He launched the
careers of Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe and Skid Row and reunited KISS for their
‘96-’97 Alive Worldwide Tour (the highest grossing tour of the year).
Collectively, his artists have sold over 250 million albums. In 1989, Doc
produced the Moscow Music Peace Festival, the first stadium rock show in
Russia, which was aired worldwide as a top rated pay-per-view event.
Additionally, Doc created an entertainment division for the Home Shopping
Network, which he ran for five years.
Doc was one of the first music managers to recognize the importance of
marrying music and visual arts. He was an early supporter of MTV and took
the promotional video one step further by developing home videos that
included behind the scenes footage and special interviews along with classic
music videos, giving the fans a complete collector’s package. Doc also
worked with major film companies to not only bring his artists’ music to the
screen but also use their music as a cornerstone for film marketing
campaigns. One of Doc’s most successful marriage of music and film was with
the hit movie Young Guns II, for which Jon Bon Jovi’s song “Blaze Of Gloryâ€
won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Academy Award. Bon Jovi
became the first rock band to perform during the Academy Award ceremonies.
