About Me

Currently playing with five different groups. The project with Daniel and I, One with Michael Scalabrino, Parker Case, and Jalaya Kunst, a one man band, and I now will produce your hip hop and create beats to it the other two groups are a band on wheels, and a trio. When we're not playing music we're on the mountain, or elsewhere outside. Leif Huot was born and raised in Jackson Hole, WY, where he fell in love with music at an early age. From ages 1-5 he was a percussionist, playing claves, maracas, tambourine, shakers, and toy pianos. Starting piano lessons at six, he dropped out due to a strict teacher and started again two years later at age eight with Kyle Johnson. Now taking lessons from Keith Phillips, he has taught himself various other instruments. At first it was difficult finding a band but once people started figuring out how legitimate he was on bass and keyboards bands started asking him to join. Forming a few bands, he was now busy with music. Lately he has been playing ukulele, keyboards, and bass. Regrettably or fortunately Leif plays percussion in band. Later he had doubts on whether the percussion section was right for him or if he should have stayed on alto sax, which is what he signed up for in the first place. Leif plays nearly strictly mallet percussion (bells, marimba, tuned cowbells, chimes...) and percussion two and three (a wide variety of instruments). Mandolin comes into play because he used to borrow one from his eighth grade history teacher to play. Leif can be seen around Rafter J, unicyling with his ukulele or acoustic guitar, or elsewhere.
