HEADSTONE EPITAPHaus Mosbach wurde 1987 gegründet. Sie spielten in den Anfangstagen noch Coverversionen von bekannten Größen wie Iron Maiden und Judas Priest usw., entwickelten dann eigene Ideen, dass man sich bald entschied, eigene Songs zu schreiben. Schnell wuchs die Combo zu DER Metal Band der Region.

Auf unzählige Clubgigs und einigen Demotapes folgten auch größere Auftritte mit AXXIS, SINNER und HEAVENS GATE. Angefeuert von den lokalen Erfolgen kämpften die Jungs gegen alle Widrigkeiten des Musikdschungels an, um 1996 ihre erste selbstproduzierte CD "Without the slightest qualm" mit Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69) am Mischpult veröffentlichen zu können. Dadurch machte die Band nun auch überregional auf sich aufmerksam.

Schließlich unterzeichnete HEADSTONE EPITAPH 1997 den ersten Plattenvertrag mit Noise Records. Auf das 1998 erschienene Album "Wings of Eternity" folgte eine erfolgreiche Deutschland-Tour mit ARENA Weltweit erntete die Band ein positives Echo der Fachwelt und Metal-Fans.
Da bereits eine gleichnamige Band existierte waren die Jungs gezwungen sich noch im Studio über einen Namenszusatz Gedanken zu machen. Zusammen mit Noise Records einigte man sich auf den Zusatz EPITAPH. So kommt es, dass die erste Auflage von „Wings of Eternity“ noch unter dem original Bandnamen HEADSTONE gepresst wird.

Sowohl bei „Wings of Eternity“ als auch beim dritten Album „Powergames“ war Dennis Ward nun als Produzent mit im Boot. Einmal mehr stellte Dennis Ward unter Beweis, dass er nicht nur ein großartiger Basser ist. Er versteht es die Live Fähigkeiten und Performance von HEADSTONE EPITAPH in ein hervorragendes Studio Album umzusetzen .

Das Album "Powergames" (1999) fand sich in den Top Ten der Reviews in vielen Metalmagazinen weltweit wieder. Es folgte ein sehr erfolgreicher Auftritt beim GODS OF METAL-Festival in Italien/Mailand (u.a. mit METALLICA, MANOWAR, MOTÖRHEAD) und viele Shows in ganz Deutschland.

Doch trotz großer Probleme wie den Verlust des Proberaums, den die Band 16 Jahre lang nutzen konnte (Danke Familie Fieger!!), das Ausscheiden des Bassisten und einiges mehr, konnten nun alle Hürden genommen werden. Im März diesen Jahres stieß Bernd Keck (ex Valium Sänger und Gitarrist) zu Tim Benz (Gesang), Martin Grimm (Gitarre, Mystic Prophecy) und Frank Reinert (Trommel) und sie beschlossen eine öffentliche Probe zu planen obwohl noch ein geeigneter Raum fehlte. Doch auch dieses Problem ist gelöst.

HEADSTONE EPITAPH from Mosbach was founded in 1987. In the beginning they played Cover versions of well-known “greats” such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. They soon however developed many ideas and began writing their own songs. Within a short time, HEADSTONE EPITAPH became “The” Metal band of the region. Club gigs and demo tapes were followed by bigger performances with AXIS, SINNER and HEAVENS GATE. Motivated by local success, the band fought against all obstacles of the music jungle. In 1996 they released their 1st self-produced CD "Without the slightest qualm" mixed by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69. HEADSTONE EPITAPH now gained statewide acknowledgement.

Finally HEADSTONE EPITAPH signed their first record contract with Noise Records. After the release of the Album "Wings of Eternity" (1998) HEADSTONE EPITAPH completed a successful Germany-Tour with Arena. The band harvested positive response from Metal fans and in professional circles worldwide. The fact that another band with the same name existed, the guys were forced to think about an endorsement of their name while they were still recording in the same studio. Together with Noise Records they agreed on the same endorsement EPITAPH. However the first pressings of “WINGS OF ETERNITY” were released under the name “HEADSTONE”.

Both “WINGS OF ETERNITY” and the 3rd CD “POWERGAMES” were produced by DENNIS WARD, who proved he..s not just a great bass player. He helped to successfully transfer the bands tightly polished live performance into an incredible studio album.

The Album "Powergames" (1999) was reviewed in the Top Ten of many Metal magazines all over the world. An awesome and successful gig at he Gods of Metal Festival in Milano/ Italy (with METALLICA, MANOWAR, MOTÖRHEAD) and many shows through Germany followed. Despite big problems like losing their rehearsal room, the retirement of their bass player and even more, all obstacles have been overcome.

In March 2007, Mister “B” Bernd Keck (ex VALIUM singer and guitar player) joined Tim Benz (singer), Martin Grimm (guitar, Mystic Prophecy), Frank Reinert (drums) and a public rehearsal was planned, although a room was missing. But this problem is solved!
