About Me

TASNIM
After quitting a band project with other guys in Benghazi-Libya in 1998, Basem and Majdi started the band Tasnim which was – musically speaking – kind of an amalgamation between Death-Metal and Middle Eastern/ North African music. The idea that Basem had in mind was to create something melodic, powerful and representing the culture we come from. The name Tasnim which was picked up by Majdi is a Quranic name of a spring in Paradise, and again, it would be another reference to our cultural background.
Vocalist Enes, from the previous band (Mess-age), joined Tasnim for couple of songs before Gago showed up almost the same time with Tarek who joined the band as a rhythem guitar.
The subject matter of our lyrics sounds aggressively political most of the time, but of course, we do have our open tolerant mind.
By the year 2000, Tasnim (as Basem, Majdi, Tarek and Gago) became the most influential metal band in Libya.
