André Gonzales

Filho do cantor, compositor e instrumentista Dave Maclean e da produtora Angela Caçapava, André iniciou os estudos de música, bateria e percussão erudita aos 9 anos na Fundação das Artes de São Caetano do Sul, com José Eduardo Lennert, Alfredo Lima e Carmo Bartoloni, seguindo para o CLAM, do Zimbo Trio. Aos 14 começou a lecionar privadamente e em escolas de São Paulo e Grande ABC.
Nestes 25 anos de carreira musical Gonzales já tocou e gravou com Jane Duboc, Egberto Gismonti e Gilberto Gil [Heineken Concerts ‘99], Dave Maclean, Celso Pixinga, O Terço, Ricky Furlani, Funkacid, Fernando Forni, Audiofílicos, Nicky French [Inglaterra], Steve Morse Cover, Middle Men [Living Colour Tribute], Ledness [Led Zeppelin Tribute], Dalvan, Lupa Mabuze, Gwen Leathers [EUA], Gabrielle Goodman [EUA], Junkie Box, Pornograffitti, Bandalha, Lobo, Afonso Nigro e Thunderbird, além de vários outros trabalhos como free-lancer.
Na década de 90 foi colaborador da revista Modern Drummer Brasil, escrevendo matérias e artigos para iniciantes e profissionais.
Atualmente faz workshops, gigs diversas, toca com Funkacid, Ricky Furlani, Fireball, Fernando Forni e Audiofílicos, além de ser coordenador dos cursos de Bateria, Percussão, Teoria Musical e Prática de Conjunto da escola Arena Music, em Santo André.
Son of Brazil’s great songwriter, singer, instrumentist and producer Dave McLean, Gonzales started studying music, percussion and drums at the age of 9 in renowned music school Fundaçao das Artes de Sao Caetano do Sul, with brazilian great classical/contemporary drummers and percussionists José Eduardo Lennert, Duda Neves, Alfredo Lima and Carmo Bartoloni. At the age of 14 started working as a teacher at music schools in Sao Paulo and other cities in Great Sao Paulo area.
With a 25-year musical career Gonzales played, composed, arranged and recorded with Brazilian and international top-artists as Jane Duboc, Egberto Gismonti, Gilberto Gil, Dave Maclean, Celso Pixinga, O Terço, Ricky Furlani, Gwen Leathers [USA], Gabrielle Goodman [USA], Nicky French [England], Funkacid, Audiofílicos, Steve Morse Cover, Ledness [Led Zeppelin tribute], Dalvan, Lupa Mabuze, Afonso Nigro e Thunderbird, besides other works as a free-lancer and sideman.
In the 90’s wrote articles for the Brazilian edition of Modern Drummer, covering various topics of the drumming career, studying and practicing.
Nowadays Gonzales is very active doing workshops, various gigs, playing all over the country with bands and artists such as Fireball [Brazil’s only official and recognized Deep Purple tribute], Funkacid, Ricky Furlani, Fireball, Fernando Forni and Audiofílicos, besides his teaching career as chairman of Arena Music’s Drum, Percussion, Music Theory and Band Practicing courses.
