About Me

Penelope Brain: INTERNATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ROCK.

Now available at:

And at CDBaby:

Penelope Brain is a Space Rocker who traveled back in time to share his experiences with the world. After arriving on present-day Earth, he moved around the world for many years. He currently spends most of his time in Perth, Australia, and Stockholm, Sweden.

Brain was born a human in the mid-1970s, but began replacing much of his biology with microchips, wires and circuits at the age of thirty. Many years later, he had effectively completed the transition from man to machine. He lived for many centuries and witnessed a terrible history emerge. Saddened and broken by what he had seen, he travelled back in time to both document this future history and warn humans of their impending doom.

Brain used music as a vessel for his warnings, transmitting his heart-wrenching and desperate tales from a small, badly damaged ship orbiting the Earth.

His melancholy songs are therefore usually about outer space, broken robots, and the cataclysmic future wars between man and machines. His sound is reminiscent of the Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Grandaddy and, perhaps, Wilco.

Brain's debut album, Error 101, was released in 2004 by Acidsoxx Musicks.
His second release, The Machines Vs the Universe, is a complex concept album about the war of 2087 between Men and Machines, told from the robots' point of view. It was released on November 12, 2006 by transmissionZ Records . The album was mastered by well-known producer/engineer Bill Douglass, whose resume includes Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips and Nine Inch Nails amongst others.

Brain is currently recording his third album, an acoustic and sparse recording to be called Unplug My Metal Heart. It is due for release in early 2007.
