About Me

Brit Jones has been playing music in Austin, TX for 20 years. He's been in punk bands, country bands, pop bands, and a lot of bad bands. Some were alright, though. Jones spent the last 10 years in the country rock/cowpunk outfit Stickpony in which he wrote almost all the material. Stickpony signed to Milan, Italy based indie Club De Musique Records in Oct. 2006, released a 5 song EP in Feb. 2007, and broke up in March 2007. He currently plays rhythm guitar with The Lonesome Dave Fisher Band and a band of his own called The Sanguinistas in which he writes almost all the material. Since it worked out so well last time. Both bands are spectacularly unsuccessful even though they rock. In between, he likes playing his songs by himself or with an accompaniest because he's bored and needs to do something to take his mind off the fact that he's pushing 40. While mellower than his band performances, the songs lose nothing in their bleak intensity. Yes, Brit's songs are very bleak. When Brit is not writing incredibly bleak songs he can usually be found sitting on his porch swing wishing he was smoking a cigarette and that he hadn't had to quit drinking and smoking. It's made him irritable, depressed and difficult to get along with if you don't already know him. Try a drastic lifestyle change and see how it floats your boat. If you meet him please understand he's not shy, arrogant, or mean spirited. He mostly just wants to be left alone for awhile. For your own good as well as his. Once this misunderstanding is ironed out then he'll go back inside and write more incredibly bleak songs about the reprehensible way in which people treat one another.

RIP Byron Scott

I met Byron in 1989 in Venice Beach, CA.  I think he was out there with Root 1, but I spent that entire trip drunk so I could be wrong.  We've been buddies ever since.  When I was...
