Project 18 was formed back in September of 2006 by Andy Kenn(Guitarist and former bassist of the band Tension 9), Dan 'O' Mac Leod(Former Drummer of Tension 9), and Chris 'Needle' Zahner(bass). What started out as a jam session in Dan's basement had led to the building of a rehearsal studio in the garage of Andy's childhood home. And that's where the magic began. P18 spent many months writing new tunes and trying out potential new members. Their music during that time was constantly going through a genre change starting out as a blues rock style band to a hard rock then on to a heavier direction that to this day keeps getting heavier.
In March of 2008 P18 headed into RED DEVIL RECORDING STUDIOS in Stoughton, MA to record, at the same time still looking for the missing pieces to the P18 puzzle(second guitarist and Lead Vocalist). Thanks to Joel and Ted at RED DEVIL STUDIOS we came out of there with 5 Tracks recorded sucessfully.
That's when an old friend made contact with Dan 'O' on Myspace. Lou Argenzio(former Lunacy and Tension 9 Guitarist and Lead Vocalist) e-mailed Dan'O' in April of 2008, it was like a match made from the all mighty metal heavens! It was a no brainer to add the talents of Lou to the P18 Line up. After adding Lou, P18 was one step closer to becoming a local music force. But there was still that missing piece, Vocals.
After countless searches and several auditions that final piece surfaced. Drew Dampier(former guitarist and vocalist of the band Five Sins Ago) replied to one of P18's adds in July of 2008. When Drew auditioned for the band his attitude and vocal ability made it known without question that this was the frontman needed to round out this musically diverse group and complete the puzzle.
In September of 2008, P18 headed for the recording studio once again. They turned to an old friend of Lou's, Brad at STILLPOINT SOUND RECORDING STUDIOS in Brockton, MA. Brad helped P18 with adding the second guitar, vocals, as well as completing the final mixing stages of the tracks.
On October 29, 2008 Project 18 released it's first track "FADE AWAY" followed by it's second release "DIVIDE & CONQUER". A third track "Coma" was released soon after to complete their Demo CD. Project 18 is in the process of booking some shows in March of 2009. Stay tuned for more details.
