PERIGEE [per-i-jee] is the musical ideas, the musical entity if you will of singer/songwriter Ben Bruton. Sometimes eclectic musically he maintains a lyrical continuity that hovers in the realm of both an in-your-face realism and a visceral figurativeness that sets the scene and paints a vivid mental picture for us all to fall into. His writing style is melodic, sexy, very retro-introspective with good hooks and “keep your attention†arrangements. Ben sings with conviction and has a vocal characteristic that shoots for sweet but finishes rough. His recent musical influences include bands like, The Shins, Modest Mouse, Wheat, Tears for Fears, Keane and too many others to mention. Ben is no stranger to band life. He spent eleven years with former band Eleven Foot Seven as a songwriter, guitar player and singer. In that eleven year stretch he clocked in over a thousand live performances and four years of continuous on the road touring. Now after a hiatus from band life, he is performing again under the auspices of Perigee, with a large body of new original songs that he would now like to share with the rest of the world.Note: Perigee is pronounced [per-i-jee], with a soft 'g'. It's definition is the point in the orbit of a heavenly body, esp. the moon, or of an artificial satellite at which it is 'closest to' the earth. For our purposes here we'll extract the 'closest to' portion of this definition and use it any way we like.
