**--Marlanda--**

Marlanda Dekine recently became the poet known as Marlanda Verné. Although she has been writing poetry since the age of 10, she has just begun to fully embrace the talent and potential that God has placed within her.
As a senior at Furman University, she founded Poetic Noise, a bi-weekly poetry club that hosts the campus open mic, The Mic. She, also, performs regularly at various venues in the Upstate, and she has won grand prize and placed in various slam contests. In 2007, her poetic duo, the Anointed Tongues, featured in their own Mainstage Showcase. Her second Mainstage Showcase will be held on April 5, 2008. Taking this new found love back to her home roots, she, also, coordinated and hosted Speak Life in the Garden, an open mic poetry night held in her hometown—Georgetown, SC.
As her graduation date is quickly arriving, she has great visions for her future poetic ventures, and she is thankful and excited about the unforeseen places that God is guiding her towards. Marlanda Verné sees this art form as nothing less than a gift from God. This is her mission, her ministry, and she claims it as her own, loving each and every minute of it.
