Alternative music with the bass on the forefront. Neighbourhood of Beringen/Tessenderlo in Belgium. Solo project. Also a member of "the frozen penguins". Playing drums since I was a child. Learned to play other instruments to be capable to compose complete songs on my own. At the end I've lost my heart to the bass guitar, it's really sexy to slap the bass. I like mysterious songs, groove and am influenced by a lot of musical styles.
In 2008 I started to compose songs with Ethiopian Singer Saba, living in Belgium. We try to combine modern european groove with ethiopian style. We finalised our first CD, the demo for press is on air on ethiopian radios, people like our songs. At the moment we negotiate with music shops in Ethiopia to release this cd for the Ethiopian market.
The click with Saba (a very good singer !!!) and the reactions of Ethiopian people on this CD reoriented my musical activities : I go for 100 % for the Ethiopian music market together with Saba.
Why I am interested in composing for Ethiopia ? We have adopted two beautifull ethiopian daughters in 2004 and since their adoption I support a music school ("Aida") in Ethiopia. Yearly I go to Addis Abeba to give workshops, doing follow-up of social projects about music and to support the graduation of the music school. I am in love with Ethiopia, their people and their musical culture. Yes, I can play a little bit their traditional instruments (krar, masinko), and, I know their music. I try to mix these influences with my own musical preferences. We'll see what happens in the future about this mammal man stuff in Ethiopia ...
As mentioned, I am supporting the Aida music school in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia). When you have an instrument or some financial support for them, you're really a good soul ! You can watch a movie on my website. Watch this movie ! Each year I visit this school to enjoy the purity of the teachers and the students, and, to give some workshops about drums and bass, to support their graduation happening, and, to deliver and buy some instruments for them. This project is covered by Finado, a social support organisation (www.finado.be). On my Mammal Man Space you can watch a video (august 2007) where I perform with Ethiopian singer Lolith during the graduation.
In the mean time I'll playing music till I die !
