About Me

Keith Pyrtle was born into a musical family in Stokes County NC in 1963. His parents, tobacco farmers, raised their children on a healthy dose of bluegrass and gospel. His mother, was a talented singer and his father a gifted musician. However, Keith didn't pick up the guitar until he was 23, but was a natural.Keith's first professional gig was with the Bluegrass Cardinals in which Keith played the guitar, bass and sang lead and tenor vocals. After the Bluegrass Cardinals broke up Keith played with Herschel Sizemore and friends before creating his own band the Carolina Bluegrass Band with Vince Bullins, Randy Pyrtle, and Scott Brown.Later, Keith joined the Dan River Boys. After a lengthy hiatus, Keith has returned to the Dan River Boys.Currently, Keith is working on several new projects including a new band with old friend Vince Bullins.
