Rylan was born in Long Island New York on September 14th, 1986. He grew up and has lived on Long Island his entire life. However, it wasn't until his early teenage years that he discovered the magic of hip hop. Growing up mainly listening to rock music (Metallica, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses etc.) and having a musician for a father, music was a huge influence on him for as long as he could remember. At the age of 14, he borrowed Canibus' sophmore effort, 2000 B.C. from a friend, and immediately was blown away by the genre. Afterward, he began to delve deeper into the music by purchasing and listening to many other artists including Tupac, Notorious BIG, Wu Tang Clan, Atmosphere, 7L and Esoteric, Last Emperor, Masta Ace and Nas. At this point, he was so captivated by the sound he began to experiment with it himself. At the age of 15 he wrote his first song and has not stopped since. That isn't to say that he wasnt met with his share of bumps in the road along the way. Criticized by some due to the area he grew up in and his surroundings, the fact he had no street cred and was branded by some as a "Whiteboy" writing rap music, many times he thought about giving up. It was at this point that he began branching off to create his own unique style. In 2003 he began producing as well, and has since produced several songs for his projects. Coupled with his innovative flow and ability to sing makes listening to his music a unique and refreshing experience. He has since appeared on Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Vol. 28 with his song "Follow This" and has started to perform in the Long Island Area. If you are looking to listen to a young creative mind with deep complex lyrics and extraordinary potential, Rylan should be in your Car Stereo or Ipod soon. From heartbreaking songs like "Pass You By" and "Cali Girl" to bliss injected melodies like "Feel Good" to hearing him totally destroy the microphone on songs like "The Rep", Rylan is a truly gifted up and coming hip hop artist who is making it his goal to change the very face of "Hip Hop".
