I am a mother of a 7 year old sweet little girl, that was diagnosed with Early Onset Childhood Biploar AT AGE 3. I wanted to start this page to raise awareness and let others know that YES it can be DIAGNOSED at such a early age. I want to tell Chloe N'Gaelle's story so that others can learn from her story.
I have had many people question the diagnosis and say many things to me such as: "It is not true", "She probably is ADHD but not bipolar at her age", "There is no such thing as a child that young with bipolar mam", "Its just a phase she will grow out of", "Its just temper tantrums", "This is normal age appropriate behavior", "Just because your family member has it doesnt mean she will be just like them",and so on...
Many people have questioned me, doubted me and her doctors, questioned me more than ample amout of times. Some people seem genuinely interested in learning more about Chloe N'Gaelle's story, and how she was diagnosed so early, and others seem more interested in passing off judgement, and critizing me. I have seen both sides from her school also. It has been a long journey and we are merely at the begining of this journey still.
I debated on calling this page Chloe N'Gaelle's page, but I opted for Childhood Bipolar Awareness. I wanted to raise awareness that YES this can be DIAGNOSED as EARLY ONSET CHILDHOOD BIPOLAR DISORDER. I also want to show the faces of all the children out there diagnosed early! EARLY INTERVENTION IS THE ANSWER! WE MUST MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR CHILDRENS LIVES!! WE ARE THEIR VOICE TILL THEY ARE ABLE TO SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES IN THIS MATTER!
I have fought and spoke out and defended my daughter's rights both with the school system, the health system, and with doctors. I lived with a sibiling that was bipolar all their life, and I have seen how leaving it untreated for so long can destroy any chance of that child growing to be functionable at their fullest potential. The goal with my daughter, is EARLY INTERVENTION FOR POSTIVE LIFETIME OUTCOME. I can't say this enough, EARLY DIAGNOSIS and INTERVENTION is the answer to giving that child the best chance possible to suceed to its fullest potential.
