Since the young age of 7, Syracuse native Timothy “Big Boy†Kirkland has brought smiles to peoples faces in numerous ways. It all started at a family wedding where “Big Boy†became the entertainment for the night with his rendition of a New Edition song in addition to reciting a poem and dancing.
“Big Boy†is more than a comedian, he serves as a role model, and mentor and he is a career driven man as well. He also started the first improve comedy group in Utica College history “gonmadâ€. “Big Boy†has always been active in his community. He has emceed many events at his alma mater, Utica College and revived social life on campus as well. He has represented the college in many activities in the Utica Communities such as the HOOPS AND DREAMS basketball tournament; where he coached a basketball team from Utica College.
In 2005, “Big Boy†re-activated B.O.N.D. (Brothers On a New Direction). As president of the organization, “Big Boy†did more than dj parties with his dj set Tuff Tunes, he introduced the campus to his value of giving back to the community. B.O.N.D. worked very closely with the Boys and Girls Club of America. In 2005, they were recognized by the mayor for their community service which includes events such as Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and their work with the local schools and clubs in Utica.
As a graduating senior, “Big Boy†held the position of dj supervisor for the Utica College radio station: WPNR 90.7fm. “Big Boy†is extremely focused and has a natural talent and passion for people. “Big Boy†does more than make people laugh; he puts never-ending smiles on people’s faces. He has done promotion work for VP records with artists such as Elephant Man, Morgan Heritage, TOK and Assassin. He has done a variety of internships and coordinated marketing and promotions strategies for not only businesses and organizations but also sororities and fraternities.
