Musician/Producer/Composer Tim Weston was born November 19th, 1952, in Santa Monica, CA.. He is the son of two well-known artists; Singer and Recording Artist Jo Stafford, and Arranger/Composer/Conductor Paul Weston.. His sister Amy, is also a professional vocalist. He is the father of two sons: Will, and Griffin Weston. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, from Loyola Marymount University.Perhaps as a result of having been raised in the music business, and within the entertainment community of Los Angeles, Weston's career to date has been extremely diverse. His areas of professional expertise include; Record Production, Musical Performance (as a professional guitarist and recording artist), Audio Engineering, Arranging, and Music Publishing/Administration. He has served as Director of A & R for Mesa/Bluemoon Recordings, and currently heads his family’s Corinthian Records. In 1991 he formed his own independent production company; SOUL COAST, dedicated to recordings of an eclectic nature.As a studio and performing guitarist for the past 30 years, Weston has played on over fifty albums, in addition to TV, Film, and Radio jingle recording. His live performance credits include world tours with Diana Ross, and Yvonne Elliman, as well as the Broadway production of Dreamgirls. As a touring/recording artist, he has been a part of two successful instrumental groups; Motowns’ Dr. Strut (three albums), and his own group; Wishful Thinking (four albums including 1987’s Billboard Top Ten recording: “Way Down Westâ€). Weston’s most recent recording is a collaboration with singer/songwriter Shelby Flint entitled: “PROVIDENCEâ€.
As an audio engineer, Weston apprenticed at the well-known Village Recorders, in West Los Angeles. In addition to numerous sessions, he was assistant to Roger Nichols on the first two Steely Dan albums; "Can't Buy A Thrill", and "Countdown To Ecstasy". He continues to work with closely with Nichols, and has worked as a guitarist/arranger for Steely Dan member Walter Becker on several recording projects.In the field of music publishing and administration, Weston is a former professional manager for Larry Shayne/Henry Mancini Music, Hanover Music, and he continues to maintain several of his own publishing companies, including Soul Coast Music/ASCAP.
1997 found Weston completing his most ambitious recording project to date; “Wouldn’t It Be Nice†; the Grammy nominated tribute to composer Brian Wilson which was released on Blue Note. 2001 noted the completion and release of the second work in this series “Sketches Of Jamesâ€; another all-star jazz tribute featuring the music of James Taylor on Koch Jazz.With his latest project; “Something Wonderful; A Tribute To Rodgers and Hammerstein, Tim Weston continues to support his reputation as a producer of unique product featuring the highest musical integrity.; myspace layouts :: Get this layout .
