About Me

When one sees or hears the name Eclipse79, they may wonder about the meaning or origin. When one hears the music of Eclipse79, there isnâ€™t any wondering. Packing loads of emotion and danceable rock rhythms into pithy, auspiciously written songs, their larger then life sonance and ambience agglomerate with cutting vocal melodies to leave a mark on your mind. Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Muse have had a great influence on the bandâ€™s music. Eclipse79 got their start in the spring of 2007, after band mates Jeremy Stein (drums) and Michael Fortuna (vocals, guitar) decided to lay to rest their then current band Gish, a Smashing Pumpkins tribute band. In their 4 years they had enjoyed playing some great local San Diego venues including Canes and House of Blues. However, the time had come to create something new. Something meaningful. They soon recruited an old neighbor of Fortunaâ€™s, Matthew Walker (guitar, keys). Walker, a multitalented artist, created the bandâ€™s logo. Several months later they picked up a mutual friend of Walkerâ€™s, Carl Muheim (bass). Carl was currently in another band at the time. Eclipse79 was desperate for a bassist. They persuaded Carl to come by their studio and listen to their songs. The lineup was in place. They soon began polishing the songs that would make it onto their first demo, recorded at Exum studio in Escondido (2008). Eclipse79 has played the Zombie Lounge, the Bitter End, 710 Club, the Ken Club, Scolariâ€™s Office, O'Connells, Tiki Bar and KUSI news studio. Contact: Michael 619-929-5231 Band website: welcome!
