About Me
Mateusz Szwankowski - musician well trained in playing classical, jazz and folk music. Alias Free Trio was his first contact with playing fully improvised and experimental sounds. Being under influences of: Stolzman, J. S. Bach, Dvorak, L. van Beethoven, Ornette Coleman and many others he started to integrate chaos and warm classical tone as well in playing melodies as in creating sound spaces.
Bartek Chmara - musician known from his traditional guitar and classical music predilections. One year ago he started to interest in improvisied music after Fred Frith's concert at club MÓZG. Being under influence of such bands, musicians and composers like Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Sigur Ros, Arythmic Brain, John Coltrane, J.S. Bach, Gustav Mahler, Krzysztof Penderecki and many more, he started to search for his own sound and way to express his own feelings. Using classical guitar techniques and lots of different tools he achieved a unique style in playing rythms and melodies.
Qba Janicki - musician mostly relevant to traditional percussion, classical and improvised music. He Started playing drums at age of 4, at oage of 15 he started to use electronics. From his early years he have played with lots of different musicians during rehearsal brakes of bands which were practicing in MÓZG club. After 13 years of practicing, mostly alone, and searching for his own techniques and sounds he started to play in public. So far he performed with such musicians and artist as: Tomasz Pawlicki, Slawomir Janicki, Tomasz Glazik, Jon Dobie, Mazzoll, Risa Takita, Adam Simmons, Patryk Weclawek, Tomasz Gwincinski, Anthony Pateras, Frederic Blondie, Jacek Majewski, Artur Mackowiak, Jacek Buhl, Joanna Charchan, Grzegorz Pleszynski, Wojciech Zamiara, Lisa Ullen, Mats Aleklint, Andres Axelson, The Slub, 100nka, popo, StalagMit and many more.
One day a group of friends from music high school in Bydgoszcz, being tired of doing nothing, ditched school to play a little. They've never played together before. Qba Janicki proposed to play some improvisation, without any arranges or defined formal and harmonical structures. Synthesis of classical music experiences and techniques with a strong need of expressing their own personalities, turned out to be the best music they've ever done in their lives.
