About Me

EMPIRE OF THE FORGOTTEN began with Tony Allred (bass/vocals), Justin Coombs (guitar), Alex Getts (vocals/guitar), and Andrew Higbee (drums) in September 2006. In Tony's bedroom, the band began practicing, figuring out their early sound and writing songs. Before the year ended, Andrew and Justin left the band, but Alex and Tony continued, writing more songs. Alex took up druming duties for recordings, but occasionally they were joined by Tony's friend Dave. In the spring/summer of 2007, Empire was joined by Alex's old friend and former bandmate Jon Marsh on guitar/vocals, who rehearsed with them off. Eventually Jon went to Iraq, but returned home safe. However, he no longer plays in Empire of the Forgotten. In February 2008, Empire rounded their lineup out with Nick Waters on drums, who added a powerful element to the songs. As a power trio, Nick, Tony and Alex performed throughout 2008, building a fanbase and refining their songs, playing in smaller venues such as New Song Underground, Studio 600, and The Outer Rim. They twice opened for Los Angeles-based pianist Shannon Curtis, and for Jimmy Eat World's opening act Dear and the Headlights at the now-defunct Avalon Theater. 2009 saw Empire taking a break from the live scene and attempting to record and work on new material. December 2009 saw an unfortunate departure, as Tony moved back to California. Prior to leaving, he contributed bass to recordings of some of the songs for eventual release. With Tony's departure, the band decided to go in a different direction. Wanting to focus more on playing guitar, Alex decided to partially step away from the microphone, and the band found a new singer in Kelsey Hodgson. While they are still looking for a permanent bassist, Empire is working on new material and anticipating a return to the stage. EMPIRE OF THE FORGOTTEN is Alex Getts (guitar/vocals/bass), Kelsey Hodgson (vocals/guitar/keys), and Nick Waters (drums).
