Hello, my name is Hugh McNichol and I am from Lansing, MI. I am in the Army Reserves and am currently serving in Iraq. When I get home, I plan ..ing up a non-profit organization in Lansing for homeless veterans. My idea is to use local, state, and federal grants, along with numerous fundraisers and donations to provided a place to live for homeless veterans in the Lansing area. We have a lot of older homes in downtown lansing and some of them are sold for $20,000 or less. They are not in the best of neighborhoods but neither are the homeless shelters and atleast this is a way to give them some privacy and dignity. Many veterans by nature are ashamed to asked for help, they dont want to seem like a burden on society. My goal is to make them feel as though they are a part of society while giving them a place to live, helping them develop skills, and by helping them find employment.
