About Me

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Rae-Shell was in the top ten percent of Nimitz High School’s 1995 graduating class. Winning number one in the nation in history fair group performance would introduce her to her hidden love for the stage. Having earned other awards, such as homecoming queen two years in a row, Rae-Shell continued her winning streak of numerous victories, leadership, and involvement at Prairie View A&M University. Being section leader in Prairie View’s Marching Storm Band, and member of The Campus Activities Board, would only continue to fuel and nourish her leadership qualities.Rae-Shell, with a B.B.A. in Management from Prairie View A&M University, and an A.A.S Degree in Business Specializing in Cosmetology from North Harris County College, has more than 14 years experience in leadership, and over 10 years experience in management and skills. This bonifide class of 2000 panther, and award winning stylist, is the proud owner of Front Cover Hair Salon. She is also a member of a charitable organization known as The Order of The Eastern Star and a faithful member of Brookhollow Baptist Church, The Church Without Walls.Known as Rae to the poetic nation, Rae-Shell’s poetic style paralleled with her stage presence is as real as God has blessed her to be. Her heart-felt poems are nothing short of inspirational. Rae’s compelling word combinations will either leave you thinking, laughing, reminiscing, or pressured to do the right thing! Rae has performed at a number of Houston’s poetry lounges, featured at special shows such as Prairie View A&M 2007 Homecoming Poetry Showcase, and participated in several shows promoting awareness of domestic abuse and violence.In 2006, Rae-Shell wrote a play entitled Flower Grows, which fueled the need for the novel Poetry is My Lyfe, Revenge is My Mission. Her purpose for this fiction novel, creatively combined with poetry, is not only to tell a story but to address issues concerning women who are in abusive relationships, and how to overcome certain harships and issues. This novel also reveals how necessary it is for a woman to leave a situation making sure she is taken care of. Rae-Shell W.
