With you by my side, I will fight and defend...

About Me

Hey there, I'm Jen -- I live just outside Madison, Wisconsin. My husband is assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division and is currently at FOB Prosperity (Baghdad) in Iraq. He's the love of my life, my best friend, and my soul mate. I miss him every moment of every day and look forward to his return so we can resume our life together. We have a beautiful daughter together named Zoe Jeanette who was born April 17th, 2006. She's incredibly intelligent and funny, she's our world. I was medically discharged from the Army in 2005 for fractured hips and a fractured vertebra. In the Army, I was a journalist, just as my husband is. I still maintain my passion for writing and hope to follow that career path and education. In the meantime, I work my ass off, and I love it -- I'm a workaholic by nature. I love animals, we have 5 cats, a varied collection of ball pythons, and one Columbian rainbow boa. I do lots of rescues, so I always have 1-2 foster cats at any given time as well as rehabilitating reptiles. I graduated from the Wisconsin Challenge Academy in 2002 and it's still a big part of my life. I try to help with every class and fundraise as much as possible, and I'm currently a Mentor for a Class 18 cadet. If there's anything else you'd like to know, just ask. :)

My Interests

My biggest interest is snakes -- mainly ball pythons. Other than my snake obsession, I love spending time with my amazing husband and our beautiful little girl, spending time with our pets, working, going out to dinner/movies/etc, listening to music, going to amusement parks/go-kart tracks/waterparks/etc, meeting new people and having fun...I have a lot of different interests, too varied to mention them all here.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow servicemembers or Army wives, CA cadets, people that know me, old friends...

Music:

I listen to mostly electronica -- goa/psytrance, epic and hard acid trance, tribal, dancehall jungle (and regular dancehall), NRG, progressive and UK house, deep techno -- pretty much anything that catches my ear. I also listen to some occasional mainstream stuff. My absolute favorite artist of all-time is Pink...I love her for her personality, her opinions, the depth of her lyrics, her dedication to her causes (especially animals) and her incredible voice. She's beautiful, knows who she is and isn't afraid to stick to her individuality and speak her mind.

Movies:

I have too many favorites to name. I'd say military/war movies and sci-fi/futuristic movies are my favorites, but I'm a big movie buff and basically love everything.

Television:

I don't watch much TV, but when I do I usually watch Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TLC, CNN or some movie I can find, but I do like a few certain shows, like CSI, House, Grey's Anatomy, and Sex and the City.

Books:

I'm picky about what I read, I get into sci-fi stuff and psychology-related books, but I do have one dorky admission...I really fell in love with the Harry Potter series. I've read all 6 books and now have to suffer the long wait for the 7th.

Heroes:

My husband and my fellow soldiers serving both on American soil and abroad.

My Blog
