About Me

"We rarely hear the inward music, but we're all dancing to it nevertheless." ~Rumi
Where to begin these things? *ahem* "please state your name, age, occupation and religion for the court..."Mandy, 24, life practitioner, Wiccan.Ok, now we clarify. *lol*Spiritual growth is the one thing in my life that supercedes all else. It's what defines me as 'me' in this great whirling universe. It's where I draw my creative energy - I live for creating in all its forms. I'm Wiccan. That's right, I wear pentacles and have an altar. No I do not worship the devil. I strongly advocate getting all the facts straight before passing judgment (if you must pass judgement at all...)!
Like I said, I live for creating. To take raw materials, be they chords and words, or paints and canvas, or eyelashes and a mascara wand, and create something unique and beautiful is ultimately ultimately makes me happiest. It's what I was born to do. I'm an artist. To be a little more specific, I'm a singer/songwriter (singing all my life, just started playing the guitar a year ago) and am honoured to have the opportunity not just to work with some of the best young musicians in Barbados, but also to have them as my close friends. I'm also a poet (helps when you're writing lyrics...I want to publish a few books of poetry), make-up artist (for a living), painter, radio announcer (also for a living), theatre tic (constumes, directing, acting, you name it). I'm also a band manager for two very talented bands as well as one independent (kickass) artiste. I love to meet new people and learn about different cultures and backgrounds.
I'm blessed to be pursuing my dream of being my own person...whatever form she may take. I'm blessed with the gift of talents, and blessed with the awareness of that gift to be able to use it to help me realize my dream.I'm blessed with the most incredible man a woman could ask for. He supports me unfailingly, believes in me unfalteringly and loves me unconditionally. He's my inspiration, my light, my love.
Life has been good to me. I've been through more than my fair share of shit, but it's just made me stronger. The shit never really stops, actually. There'll always be people who want to bring you down, there'll always be challenges. But the question we all have to ask ourselves is "am I the kind of person that sees the avalanche coming, but is stubborn enough to try to climb the mountain anyway?" If the answer is yes, then you're like me. I stop at nothing and meet challenges head-on with a few tears and lots of grit. Yes I'm insane, but a life half-lived is a life not worth living.

Tragedy Strikes
