Najwa Parkins

At age 9, Najwa began playing the trombone in her school band, at age 10 she joined the chorus, at age 13 she got an awesome electric bass and began studying bass and voice with the amazing Nancy Reed; by the time Najwa was 14 years old, she was out at various venues singing and playing her bass (simultaneously...chyeahh). Now at 19, she's in college studying Vocal Jazz Performance/ Trombone (wooooot!). She has already been fortunate enough to perform and/or study with some heavy hitters such as Phil Woods, Bob Dorough, Jesse Green, and the Lincoln Center Afro-Latin Ensemble, to name a few. Najwa is very open minded and free spirited, and enjoys a plethora of musical genres including Classical, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Ska, old school R&B, Rock and Roll, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Alternative, and a host of others. She was a USA Gymnastics Team Member up to Level 10, a member of the PA Dance Vision Company, and earned Major roles in musicals throughout her high school career. Najwa plans to continue acting and dancing as much as the schedule of her current music studies will allow. Najwa has some original songs written, and plans to hit the recording studio to pump them out very soon. That being said, Najwa aims to produce an eclectic sound unlike any you've heard before.
