About Me

The Mid-Atlantic Black Film Festival is looking for the hottest filmmakers in the US and abroad
Bringing together the best from coast to coast, the Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival (MABFF) is a premier showcase for independent film that will take place over three days and YOU could have a chance to show your work at the beautifully restored Historic Attucks Theatre located in the cultural district of Norfolk.
The festival runs from July 26 – 28, 2007, offering the best in black and multicultural independent films, powerful narratives, compelling historical and contemporary documentaries, innovative films by students, colorful animation shorts, music videos and discussions and workshops with distinguished guests from the film industry.
The MABFF will have cash prizes in the following categories:

Deadlines to submit films for the 2007 Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival are:

July 9, 2007 – REGULAR REGISTRATION
Completed documentary and short films may be submitted and must be postmarked by May 18 for early consideration and a reduced submission fee.

GENERAL REQUIRMENTS 1. Filmmakers entering their film for consideration for the 2007 MABFF must be 18 years of age or older.

2. Films submitted in all sections must:

I. Have been directed or written and produced by a person of African descent or

II. Tell a story about the Black experience and/or feature a person of African descent in a lead roll

3. A non-returnable final cut copy of your film must be on DVD; one film entry per DVD.

4. Filmmaker is responsible for obtaining the rights and clearances pertaining to the submitted film.

All films must be accompanied with:

A completed submission form (A separate form is required for each entry)

A non-returnable copy of your film on DVD with the film’s name and running time

One copy of filmmaker bio and photo

One copy of film synopsis (max. 1 page)

One copy of a photo still from film (jpeg.format)

A non-refundable submission fee via money order (U.S. Postal preferred) payable to CACC INC., MasterCard, Visa or American Express.

Mail entries to MABFF, c/o The Attucks Theatre., P.O. Box 1272, Norfolk, VA 23501

All entries must arrive to the MABFF office postmarked by the June 26, 2007 deadline.
