I've worn many hats in my life. I've been a concrete finisher, a vitner, a rancher and bred horses, dogs and American Mammoth Jackstock and now I'm a artist manager!
I'm now representing a fine Canadian roots artist. Linda first gained notoriety during her stint as bassist, accordionist, vocalist with Celtic Roots rockers, Spirit of the West. Since leaving them Linda has released two recordings: Flying Jenny produced by Colin Linden and Cryin' Out Loud was produced by Gurf Morlix.
These two widely acclaimed albums featured Linda's heartfelt, tuneful Country-Folk, the likes of which have not been heard since the days when Loretta Lynn still resided in Butcher Hollow.
Carve It To The Heart features 9 new songs steeped in the dust bowl traditions as far-reaching as the Canadian Prairie to the heartland of the Appalachian Mountains. Collaborations with fellow band mates Nova Devonie (Ranch Romance, Jo Miller & the Burly Roughnecks) and Stephen Nikleva (Ray Condo, Sarah McLachlan, Sandy Scofield) have yielded a collection of rich, heart rendering songs ranging in subject matter (as one fan coined) “From Dear John to John Deereâ€. The tenth track on the album is a moving version of Jean Ritchie’s classic “The L&N Don’t Stop Here Anymoreâ€, recorded with Jean’s blessing.
Linda is an accomplished songwriter and has focused on this aspect of her career the past few years. Workshops and camps hosted by Pat Pattison of the Berklee School of Music have led to a collaboration with Pat on “How Can I Bring Her Backâ€, and an association with Grammy Award winning songwriter Jon Vezner. Jon has invited Linda to study with him in Nashville this summer.
Linda’s repertoire of instruments has grown through the years to include guitar, bass and banjo, along with the ubiquitous accordion. She has also been invited to study with renowned “Round Peak†clawhammer banjo afficianado Brad Leftwich also this summer. Linda was just awarded a Canada Council Artists Study grant to further study with Jon and Brad
Linda has played countless countless venues from Vancouver to Glastonbury and back, sharing stages with a virtual who’s who of international roots music, the names too numerous to list here. She loves to tour and works with several bands including western string band The Knotty Pines.
