Writing, reading, running, my own three R's. (I know, I know. Writing is technically a W, but this is my space, and I run the show here.) I love music, pretty much all kinds, though I generally avoid mainstream radio stations. Except the 80's station. What can I say? I have a weird fascination with red ballons.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't like meat. There is an important distinction here, but I haven't quite figured it out.
I love art museums, actually museums of any kind. I can spend hours just wandering around a city with no particular objective.
I'd like to meet:
People who make me laugh, who can spend hours talking about nothing, people who like music of any kind - particularly if they can introduce me to stuff I don't already know.
Music:
I live by John in the Morning (KEXP) - the only thing that gets me through my day. Bands: Ben Kweller, DevotchKa, Aqueduct, Nada Surf, Long Winters, Rocky Volatato, Film School, Magnet, Drop Trio, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Wilco, Fruit Bats, Cloud Cult, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Elliott Smith, Tom Waits, Damien Jurado, Modest Mouse, Neil Halstead, Mojave 3, Zebda, Damien Rice, Pulp, Rufus Wainright, White Stripes, The Roots, Jeff Buckley, Cody Chestnutt, New Pornographers, Fountains of Wayne, Grandaddy, The Wrens, anything that remotely involves Greg Dulli (an adolescent obsession that won't go away), The French, The Waterboys, Ghostland Observatory, What Made Milwaukee Famous
Movies:
Little Miss Sunshine, the Devil's Backbone, Modern Times, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Y tu mama tambien, Usual Suspects, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Bowling for Columbine, Sideways, La Haine, Better Off Dead (and most of the John Cusack repertoire) Pan's Labyrinth
Television:
Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, Carnivale (thank you netflix), Six Feet Under. I am one of the 5 people on earth who don't have cable (Ian, I'm counting you and Jill in this number), though this is really by choice. If I had cable, I'd inevitably find myself up at 4 AM watching "Rock Star" with Marky Mark. (I speak from experience.) So, for my own personal sanity, I have managed to avoid it.
