They say that in the world of fashion, one day we're in, and the next day we're out. The only thing that we could possibly ever be out of is our minds for buying into this thought. We rush to the mall to buy that hot new halter dress that looks like the one seen on "Sex and the City" or those new kicks we saw "in that one music video" because the latest magazine says that it's "in", even though the cost of these materials is our entire electric bill. Then we like to top it off with heavy makeup and bling that hides one's true self, especially in this rambunctious masquerade called "Vegas". Has the media taken on the role of controlling our image? Of course! Amy Huang, a writer for Helium.com expresses this idea perfectly in one of her articles titled "Fashion and Individualism": "As a result, we follow what the celebrities wear, we buy the brands that are advertised to us, and rather than practice individualism, we become clones of what is to become a mass capitalist's world." Many societies devour themselves with these materials, and tend to criticize others who can't keep up, or others who would rather create new routes that contrast their fashion preferences. How did this hostility begin?
