About Me

I started seriously in jazz music when Don Cherry - the great trumpet player and composer, one of the founders of free jazz (with ornette Coleman) and World Jazz - gave me the opportunity to first study and then work with him - in Sweden and Europe. I play saxophone, alto and soprano and my music is a blend of all my previous experiences in Jazz music and musical memories, also inspired by traditional mediterranean and classical music. I have performed extensively in concerts and festivals in France and worldwide with a.o. Don Cherry, Mal Waldron, Jeanne Lee, J. M’Bizo Dyani, Pierre Dorge, Sangoma Everett, Palle Danielsson, Bobo Stenson, Aldo Romano, Michel Marre, Gérard Pansanel, Ronnie Patterson, Rita Marcotulli, and also - in various projects - with Paul Bley, Jim Pepper, Dino Saluzzi, Lester Bowie, Cheikh Tidiane Seck, Hadja Kouyate, Pinise Saul, Neneh Cherry, Djaya Deva, Alain jean-Marie, Archie Shepp, Kirk Lightsey... So far I have released 12 albums, the latest ones being: LES RACINES DU CIEL (RDC/Cristal, 2002), Mythologies (co-signing) and BOLEROS,recorded in Cuba, issued in 2007.
