Artist Updates!
Ventura Girlz
This is the best new "undiscovered" act on Myspace.
Not only are they what the industry likes to call "triple threats", that is, they can sing, dance AND act, but they have a songwriter who knows how to write great pop songs just for them.
Two sets of sisters, they are Kelsey Lee 13 & Haley 12 and Molly 13 & Lindsay 12. All 4 have professional musical theater experience from Broadway to Hollywood.
Since they are also successful solo artists, this is the one thing that usually breaks up groups. Here Kelsey sings at Anaheim Stadium.
The girls are currently shooting a video for this demo.
A Capella is the way to get a good idea of the quality of a voice. This is a live recording of the girls. The sound is not processed in the studio, no "audio sweetening", no Pro Tools software creating artificial perfection, just the 4 harmonies.
Endless Rehearsals
Here the girls are rehearsing the choreography for their first 3 demos.
Kelsey is also a songwriter and has written with Deborah Gibson. Lindsay, in addition to her theater roles, is also a "voice over" artist and a dancer on the L.A. Clippers Jr. Jam Squad. Hayley dances ballet with the Royal Ballet of London's Jr. schools. Molly has played Cindy Lou Who in "Grinch" on Broadway.

Influences: Great Covers
Just for fun check out,
Lucy Walsh has given in to her fans requests for her to cover the song she sang so well on MTV's "Rock the Cradle" Go to her site and check out "Heart Of The Matter" She is at her best sitting at the piano, playing and singing. Don Henley can be happy with this cover.
Brooke White's "Let It Be" This is the Beatle song she did on American Idol. We think she did an awesome job covering this classic song.
Rachel Shay's "At Last" She does a wonderful job with this Etta James classic.
Hungry Bumblebees "White Rabbit" This is a legendary acid rock hit from the Jefferson Airplane performed Bluegrass style with mandolin and fiddle. These guys are in Nashville, I am sure they have been noticed.
Kayla Calabrese's "Settlin" This 19 year old really does a great job with this recent Sugarland smash hit.
Kacey Musgrave's "Heart Of Gold" Her cover of this Neil Young early 1970's hit is worth the time to go to her site and have a listen.
Julie Burton's "Landslide" I am glad Julie put this song back up. It is a beautiful rendition of this Stevie Nicks gem.
David Bowie's "Like A Rolling Stone" Even great artists cover other great artists and Bowie really tears up this Bob Dylan masterpiece. The team at Stoned Again provides a wonderful link to great rock and roll treasures.
Jameylee's "Simple Man" It is rare to hear this classic Lynyrd Skynyrd song being covered. Usually artists cover the more famous tunes. Jameylee delivers this song from a mothers perspective.
Ennis's "Crazy Love" These sisters have covered Poco's classic love song. Today's soft country-rock genre evolved from, Poco, The Burrito Brothers, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds and finally The Eagles.
Candy Coburn has covered my favorite Marshall Tucker hit "Fire On The Mountain" It sounds great with a female voice and I believe George McCorkel of the original Marshall Tucker Band sings with her.
Lynn Carey Saylor Has recorded and posted for our enjoyment a cover of the Pat Benatar classic. "We Belong" The song is now linked to her page.
"Ring Of Fire" George Canyon's copy of Johnny Cash's classic He has Johnny's baritone down perfectly.
Jen Miller's "Diamonds". is a perfect cover. She sounds just like Marilyn Monroe.

Lip Smacking Music Artists
Joyce
Joyce is a very talented sculptor and earns her living from selling her art at shows around the country. She also has a beautiful voice and has been our featured artist for almost a decade. Her vocal range is not just limited to country, you should hear her on stage with her band when they decide to play rock and roll. You can get an idea from the song
"Drive" above. Her ballads and love songs
"Your Someone Is Me", "Tennessee Quarter" and
"I Can't Wait" really go for the heart. Click on Joyce's name above and go to her website and hear some of her other songs.
Tom
Tom writes songs from life experiences and has two full CD's worth of songs to show for his efforts. He sings and records his own tunes. "Wrestle With the Devil", "Always Further Down the Road" and a new happy birthday song called "It's Your Birthday" are just a couple of Tom's most recent cuts. Click on Tom's name and go to his website and hear the songs. They are also available at itunes.
Kerri
Kerri has a natural vibratto in her voice. Some of her work sounds like Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray mixed. She recorded one CD with Lip Smackin Music and it has several really nice tunes. "Cold Rain Falling" is a terrific mix of melody, lyrics and great vocals. Also, in my opinion, "All I Ask" would make a great wedding song. One of her country songs "Out Of The Blue" could have easily been included in the George Strait movie "Pure Country" and fit right with the theme.
Carey
Carey was Lip Smackin Music's first artist. Her soprano voice and great ear for harmonies made some of her early songs ethereal. Go to her page and listen to "A Moment Like This", "If I Could", "A Message To Your Heart" and "Lovers To The End". My favorite is "There Is Love" She double tracked all her own harmonies. Sadly Carey passed away last year after suffering with Ovarian cancer. Now she sings with the angels.
Chris Myers
Chris is one of those extremely rare musicians who can grab an unfamiliar instrument and pick out the notes by ear. His sense of touch, phrasing and finesse with regard to how a song should feel as well as sound makes him the perfect one to arrange Lip Smackin Music.
