Since early 2007, Misfits in Audio have been honing an eclectic blend of musical styles. Fundamentally hip-hop mixed with a blend of metal/rock/indie/funk/reggae, each member brings their own particular musical influence to the table.
Lead MC, Sniper Glee was invited to play a world music show at the Electric Theater in Guildford with well-known Surrey singer-songwriter Susie Clarke. Rappers need music so Sniper recruited his brother Paul to join him on vox and Steve and David McSween on guitar and drums respectively. Bass playing was covered by a freind of Daves. The songs played were re-workings of original songs from Sniper Glees EP called "Words of Wisdom". Since that first show MIA have played many shows around the Surrey area with now permanant bassist and transport Sam Nicholass.
The writing ethos of MIA is "anything goes", with music created from impromtue jams while rehearsing to riffs and vocals written while watching telly... There are no aims or goals set when writing, only to like what we play with the hope everyone else will. Because of the influences of 2 metal heads, 2 MCs with different musical backgrounds, and a drummer with a penchant for the lighter sounds, MIA are an amalgamation of styles. MIA have played accoustic sets and shows with indie, rock, and metal bands.
MIA recorded their first demo in September 2007 at Random Colours Studio in North London. More recording has now taken place, and MIA are soon to be relseasing an 8 track album. On December the 22nd at the RISC in Reading MIA played at "Thats the Christmas Jam" hosted my the amazing Junkyard Scientists. The event was an end of year celebration of like minded musicians and music featured bands such as Works in Progress, The Common Moral Cause and of course the Junkyard Scientists.
MIAs most recent shows have been at the Kingston Peel. They entered a Battle of the Bands competition for fun, waltzed through the preliminary rounds and ended up 2nd overall. (Whoever was there will know what a good result 2nd was...) Since the Battle of the Bands, MIA have been asked to play headline shows at The Peel on a number of occasions. Of course, the house was rocked...
