So maybe after finding this myspace, you’re wondering “Where did Code of Ethics (AKA Barry Blaze’s electronic alter ego) go?†Well, after 11 years of touring, living out of a suitcase and a high dose of industry burn-out, it was like Tom Hanks says in Forest Gump “when I got tired of running…. I stopped.â€
I’ll admit, I just couldn’t stomach one more year of trying to position myself in the music scene or one more record exec. telling me how I should change my sound to be like the “Last Big Thingâ€. I was tired of not being true to my original sound and I began asking myself is this really what Jesus had in mind when he said “go and make disciples of all nationsâ€? (Matt. 28:19) (What, to sell more records?) Crazy thing is God had a plan for my life, and all I had to do was step out of the spotlight.
It has been my greatest pleasure to lead worship for the last 6 years and understand my small role in His great design. But after a near-fatal motorcycle crash (more info on Barryblaze.com) three years ago, I re-evaluated who God created me to be. I now understand I can fulfill my passion for both, leading worship and writing and recording as an artist.
My desire for the spotlight has long faded and I know each day that I wake up and breathe in and out is a precious gift from my savior. I am still excited to be on this wonderful journey through God’s grace.
So thanks for listening throughout the years. Stay tuned, there is more of the original electronic COE sound to come.
