It’s been a long journey since Catherine’s first piano lessons at the age of five. Many years of study and tuition since have taught her to play a host of instruments and vocal training to Opera standard has achieved her beautiful and deeply emotional voice of today.Growing up Catherine was surrounded by her family’s eclectic mix of musical tastes; from Joan Baez and America to Led Zeppelin, which combined with her own passion for classical music, further influenced and shaped her musical development.Following initial success in her native South Africa, Catherine moved to the UK to further her career and fulfil her musical ambitions. On arrival, she pursued every opportunity to sing and play her music, attending any audition, rehearsal or jam session available even playing in hotels and bars. Her effort finally gained her recognition as a solo singer/song writer of quality, and bought her to the attention of the UK music industry.Like many artists Catherine had to endure the usual empty promises and worked her way through the ‘big money’ deals being offered by companies who wanted to ‘package’ her and her music. Having just about every obstacle possible put in her way to persuade her to compromise her musical integrity and credibility, she now describes that part of the journey as “more hard work than I could have believed.”Her determination and focus finally found a group of people as committed to her music and career as she is. For the past year she has been working in London and Paris with Producer Peter Todd and an exceptional musical team recording her debut UK album ‘Home To Me.’The result can only be described in superlatives.
