I grew up on the streets of SOUTH CENTRAL Los Angeles Ca. At the young age of 13, I experienced my first taste of what is know today as Hip Hop music. Back then the radio station of choice was K.D.A.Y, and one of the hottest DJ crews around was Uncle Jams Army. I was influenced by the East & West Coast flavor of music. On the West, I listened to DJ Aladdin, Joe Cooley, Battle Kat, Brian "G", and on the East Coast, Grand Master Flash, Grand Mixer DST, Jazzy Jeff and the late great Jam Master Jay (R.I.P.). Around the age of 15 I relocated to San Diego, Ca. I started making mix tapes and selling them in the neighborhood to save up money for my DJ equipment. After months of practicing I felt that I was ready to start DJ'ing in the local nightclubs. At age 19 I competed in my first DJ battle in which I placed second, winning a $200 cash prize. One year later I competed in my second DJ battle against the same DJ from the year before and won again. That gave me the confidence to enter more battles. In 1997 I won the San Diego Music Power DJ battle wining $1,000 in DJ gear. In 1998 I was given the opportunity to host my own underground radio show, Power Moves 96.1 based out of San Diego, Ca. The name of my show was the West Side Chronicles. It offered a forum for local artist to be heard. Throughout the years I have also been an opening DJ for a variety of concerts and shows. I've worked with the likes of Notorious B.I.G (R.I.P.), A Tribe Called Quest, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, NWA, King T, Salt-N-Pepa, MC Hammer, Ice T, Usher and many more. I also have done after parties for Terrell Davis (Denver broncos) Shaw & Marlon Wayans (In living Color) Jamie Fox & Tommy Davison. In 2001 the local radio station, Jamming Z-90 FM, put on their first DJ battle and I won the contest. The prize was a spot as a On Air Mixer for the station. I spent two years as a commercial Mixer on the Fri & Sat. night street party, the 9 O'clock quick mix as well as the funny farm morning show. Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, the African American council of the San Diego Repertory Lyceum Theater presented me with an award for all of my hard work as an underground & main stream DJ. I also have received record plaques from Def Jam & Rawkus records for my contribution to commercial radio. 2008 is MY YEAR! Be on the look out for my up coming projects.
